- The golden ratio exists when a line is divided into two parts and the longer part (a) divided by the smaller part (b) is equal to the sum of (a) + (b) divided by (a) which both equal to 1.618.
- The number, often represented by the Greek character "Phi" is the golden ratio.
Operation:
- A large rectangle consisting of a square and smaller rectangle is called golden rectangle.
- If you remove this square from the rectangle, you'll be left with another, smaller golden rectangle.
- This could continue infinitely, like Fibonacci number which work in reverse.
Use:
- It is believed that the golden ratio has been in use for at least 4000 years in human art and design.
- It is also used in graphic design.
